DETROIT (WWJ) - Lincoln is bringing back coach doors -- doors that open from the center of the vehicle -- on its 2019 anniversary edition of the Continental.

For Lincoln's 80th anniversary, they'll produce 80 of the classic vehicles, priced just over $100,000 - and produce more for the 2020 model year.

It's a throwback to the '60s with the doors that were sometimes referred to as suicide doors.

Design Chief David Woodhouse says the doors were a centerpiece of the classic '61 Continental.

"There are just so many aspects that seem to be tied to that vehicle," says Woodhouse. "It's the zeitgeist of its time."

The coach door option will about double the price of a standard Continental.

According to it will be displayed to the public for the first time at 2019 North American International Auto Show in a few weeks in Detroit.
