LIVONIA, Mich. (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway in Livonia following a report of stranger danger involving a suspicious man in a Ford Focus.

Police say the incident took place on Westfield Street near Harrison Street as two young boys were playing outside Thursday around 8 p.m. They say a man in a Ford Focus drove up and used a ball to try and get the boys -- nine and 10 years old -- to come over to him. But the boys ran away and called for help.

“The boys became, obviously, scared," Livonia Police Captain Ron Tag said. "They ran back to the yard and told their dad. And then their dad went out to the neighborhood to look for the vehicle. It was described as an older black Ford Focus.”

Tag says police are reviewing surveillance video and police are looking for a Ford Focus that has a discolored rear passenger door.

“We are canvassing the area," Tag said. "We’ve canvassed that neighborhood and our detectives are now canvassing some businesses on Joy Road and we’re looking at tapes.”

The driver is described as a 60-year-old white male and police are asking the community to be on the lookout.

"Be vigilant, and if [you] see anything, make sure [you] call us and give us any information," Tag said.
