Lockdown Lifted At 4 Warren Schools, Suspect Arrested

June 07, 2018 - 11:07 am

WARREN (WWJ) - Lockdowns have been lifted at several schools in Warren following a police situation.

The incident unfolded Thursday morning while police were searching in the area of 9 Mile and Ryan roads for a suspect who was reportedly wanted in a home invasion and sexual assault, with concerns that the suspect was armed with a knife.

Four schools -- Fitzgerald High School, Chatterton Middle School, Mound Park Elementary and Schofield Elementary Schools -- were placed on lockdown as police were searching the area for the suspect.

Shortly before 11 a.m., reports developed that the suspect had been located and brought into custody. Other details surrounding the incident weren't immediately clear.

The schools themselves were not part of the police situation, but are in proximity where officials felt the precaution was warranted.
