Macomb County Man Held On $5 Million Bond For Attempted Murder

WASHINGTON TWP. (WWJ) - A Macomb County man had been ordered held on a $5 million bond, accused of trying to stab his girlfriend to death. 

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office says 35-year-old Paul Bashi "had what appeared to be blood on him" when he was taken into custody in a Washington Township neighborhood, Sunday night. 

At around 7 p.m. that evening, deputies responded to Bashi's home on Cathey Ave.  to find his live-in partner lying on the porch, injured and bleeding from multiple puncture wounds to her head and the right side of her body. Deputies searched the house and allegedly found Jintropin -- a human growth hormone.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to a local hospital where she is recovering from her injuties. She was last listed in stable condition, according to the sheriff's office.

Bashi, who remains held in the Macomb County Jail, was arraigned in 2-1 Romeo District Court Tuesday on one count of Assault With Intent to Murder, a life felony, and one count of Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture, a 7 year felony.

If Bashi is able to post bond he must wear a GPS tether. He is scheduled to be back court for a hearing on Aug. 14. 

Blashi is listed as a bodybuilder on the National Physique Committee's 2018 NPC Universe Championships website

Details regarding what led up to the stabbing have not been released.
