Man Arrested For Fatal Pedestrian Hit-And-Run Caught On Video

DETROIT (WWJ) - An 18-year-old man has been identified and arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on Detroit's west side

According to investigators, a man in his 20s was on foot on 7 Mile Road -- east of Telegraph Road, near Appleton -- at around 10:40 p.m. July 16, when he was struck by a white KIA Sorrento SUV/

As seen on HD video from a camera at a Project Green light location, the driver hit the brakes after hitting the pedestrian, but police said he didn't pull over, fleeing the area east on W. 7 Mile before responding officers could find him. 

The victim, who taken to a local hospital in critical condition, later died of his injuries. 

After releasing video of the incident, police said investigating officers were able to locate the driver, identified as Adonis Jackson, in the 19000 block of Avon Ave. 

Jackson was taken into custody and arraigned via video Saturday on one count of Failing to Stop at the Scene of Accident Resulting in a Serious Impairment or Death.

Information regarding bond or further court dates was not immediately known.

The victim's name has not been released.
