Man Arrested For Hitting, Killing Monroe County Teenage Siblings With Truck

July 13, 2018 - 10:11 pm

BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a crash that killed two teenage siblings as they walked near a roadway in Monroe County last week.

Raymond Reyome of Erie Township was arraigned Thursday on two counts of reckless driving causing death.

Police say 13-year-old Justin Haun and 16-year-old Alyssa Haun were hit around 12:30 p.m. on July 4 by a 2009 Ford F-150 that left the edge of a roadway in Bedford Township. The siblings were taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, where both died from their injuries.

The siblings were walking on a lawn when the truck left the road. Reyome did not suffer any injuries. Two passengers inside the truck -- a 32-year-old Toledo woman and an unknown man -- fled the crash scene. It is unclear whether they may hold any culpability in the crash.

Investigators say alcohol, speed or texting do not appear to be factors in the crash. A July 26 probable-cause conference and July 31 preliminary hearing are scheduled for Reyome.
