MT. CLEMENS, Mich. (WWJ) -- A man wanted in connection to the shooting of two people at a Fourth of July block party in Mt. Clemens has been arrested.

Perry Rouse, Jr. was taken into custody Saturday by the United States Marshal Service Great Lakes Task Force just outside of Chicago.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, Rouse opened fire into a crowd at the party, in the area of Court and Clemens streets, killing 24-year-old Charlie McGowan of Clinton Township and wounding a 26-year-old Clinton Township woman. Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said 17 spent shell casings from three different weapons were found at the scene.

Rouse, who was said to be getting assistance from someone he knew, had been on the run since the shooting and he was found at a Motel 6 in Harvey, Ill., and taken into custody without incident, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said in a released statement Saturday.

A five-count warrant had been issued for Rouse, including Homicide - Murder First Degree - Premeditated and Assault With Intent to Murder, which both carry life sentences. Rouse will also face three felony weapons charges.

He will be housed at the Chicago Police Department until his extradition to Macomb County.
