Man Dies After Jumping In Front Of Semi-Truck On I-75

LINCOLN PARK (WWJ) - Michigan State Police are trying to identify a man who was killed when he was struck by a semi-truck along I-75.

The incident happened around 6:15 a.m. Saturday on northbound I-75 at the Southfield Freeway.

According to police, the man was on foot when he jumped in front of the semi-truck. The truck driver attempted to avoid hitting him, police said, but was not able to do so.

Investigators are now trying to identify the victim, described as slender built white man in his 50s. He was wearing black jeans, black New Balance shoes and a blue plaid shirt.

"There are so many alternatives to taking your own life," state police said in a tweet. "Talk to someone! Be it a friend, clergy, medical staff or law enforcement. There is also the National Suicide Hotline at 800.273.8255. They are available 24 hours a day. Suicide is never an option."
