November 20, 2018 - 8:15 am

ROMULUS (WWJ) - Police say a man who was killed in a crash that had I-275 shut down for hours Monday morning was ejected from his car and struck by at least one other vehicle.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. on southbound I-275 near I-94 in Romulus.

Four vehicles were involved, though circumstances leading to the crash weren't immediately clear.

Michigan State Police say a 59-year-old man from Plymouth was ejected from his car and then run over by at least one other vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of another vehicle suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Oakwood Hospital.

It was foggy and roads were slick in spots at the time of the accident, but police haven't said if those were contributing factors.

The crash remains under investigation.
