Man Facing 15 Felony Charges In Harper Woods Carjacking

HARPER WOODS (WWJ) - A Detroit man accused of carjacking a Harper Woods couple could end up spending the rest of his life in prison. 

Kenneth Dixon, 26, was arraigned Monday on 15 felony charges in connection with the carjacking, which took place last Friday at a gas station at Harper and Vernier.

According to police, Dixon approached a couple at gunpoint shortly after 9 p.m. and forced them out of a 2018 Dodge Charger. He got in the car and took off, police said. 

A short time later, police located the vehicle on Moross near Peerless on Detroit's east side. Dixon ran from officers, but after an extended foot pursuit was taken into custody in the back yard of an abandoned home.

Charges against Dixon include: carjacking, two counts of armed robbery, larceny - $20,000 or more, receiving stolen property - $20,000 or more, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, obstructing a police officer, possession of a firearm by a felon and seven counts of felony firearm. 

If convicted as charged, Dixon faces up to life in prison. He's due back in court for a probable cause conference on Sept. 19.
