WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) - Oakland County Sheriff's investigators believe the death of a man outside his Pontiac home was a tragic accident.

Sheriff's deputies and EMS responded to an address in the 1700 block of N. Stirling Avenue, Monday afternoon, on a report that a resident had been cleaning leaves from the gutters with a leaf blower when he fell from the roof, about 20 feet to the ground.

The 61-year-old man, who was unresponsive, was tended to by paramedics at the scene and then taken to McLaren-Oakland Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies photographed and processed the scene, sheriff's officials said, finding a utility ladder against an outside wall of the home and no signs of foul play.

As an investigation continues, the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the body to perform an autopsy.

The man's name is being withheld until proper notifications can be made to his family.
