Police: Man Falls Trying To Outrun Train In Royal Oak, Gets Killed

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Police say a 21-year-old man who tried to run across railroad tracks in Royal Oak fell and was fatally struck by a train. 

The incident happened around 1:20 a.m. Saturday 5th and center streets.

According to police, a group of men disregarded the pedestrian railroad barricade as an Amtrak train was approaching the area. As the group ran across the tracks, the victim lost his footing and was struck.

Paramedics rushed the victim to Beaumont Hospital, where he lated died. No one else was injured.

The victim was identified only as a Bloomfield Hills man. 

Investigators are working to determine if alcohol played a role in the incident.
