Man Fatally Struck By 2 Vehicles On Greenfield Road

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene after striking a 21-year-old pedestrian who had just been hit by another vehicle. 

The accident happened around 1:45 a.m. Friday along Greenfield Road just north of Plymouth Road, on the city's west side. 

According to police, the victim was crossing Greenfield when he was struck by a Chevy Silverado truck that was traveling northbound. The victim was knocked into the southbound lane of Greenfield, where was was struck by a second vehicle. 

The driver of the Silverado, a 30-year-old man, stopped at the scene and was later taken into custody. 

The driver of the second vehicle fled the scene. No description of the vehicle was provided. 

The incident was captured on surveillance cameras at a nearby Sunoco gas station.

"It's unbelievable. I've never seen anything like this -- and I actually didn't even want to see the video, but I didn't have a choice. It was very graphic," Rami, who owns the gas station, told WWJ's Charlie Langton.

An investigation is ongoing.
