(WWJ) A felony warrant has been issued for an Oakland County man in a case involving animal cruelty.

The warrant comes two months after police seized a large number of exotic animals -- including a kangaroo -- from a location inside a strip mall in Romulus.

WWJ's Charlie Langton explains Romulus police are searching for the suspect after a kangaroo, plus a peacock, iguana, tortoise, rare Flemish giant rabbits, hedgehogs, and more, were discovered.

About 500 exotic animals were rescued and put into safe houses.

The suspect, 36-year-old Javon Pherras Stacks, managed to escape immediate arrest, but now he's being sought on charges of

Those with information on Stacks' whereabouts are asked to contact the Romulus Police Department at (734) 941-8400.
