Masked Man Crashes Concert Stage In Clinton Township

July 21, 2018 - 5:14 pm

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- Police are investigating in Clinton Township after a man wearing a white mask caused a disturbance at a concert at The Mall at Partridge Creek Friday night.

The unidentified man jumped on stage and took a microphone, cutting off the band. He began a profanity-laced rant in front of the audience before his microphone was cut off.

He engaged in pushing and shoving with another man who got on stage to try and get him to leave. After the man was pushed off the stage, knocking over a speaker, he fled the scene on foot.

Video posted to Facebook captured it all (Note: the video contains profanity). The woman who made the post says the man, joined by another, told her and her friends to get their phones out and record what they were about to do. The video, posted late Friday evening, has nearly 200,000 views on Facebook.

She says at first she was reluctant, but followed them to the stage because they tought it was going to be "something cool." The man was not wearing a mask prior to the incident, but her post says she was scared during the incident.

According to the Facebook post, security arrived several minutes after the man had fled the area and she says a police report was filed.

According to a story from the Macomb Daily, the man -- from Clinton Township -- was stopped by police near his vehicle, but not arrested. The man says his friend "was a victim of violence and wanted to make a statement," according to the story.

An investigation will continue on Monday.
