Troopers attempted to revive the man with NARCAN

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A man is hospitalized in critical condition after he was found slumped over the steering wheel in a van on M-10 Monday afternoon.

Michigan State Police troopers were called to the scene along the northbound side of the Lodge, near I-94, by a AAA crew shortly after 4 p.m.

When the troopers made contact with the driver inside the blue GMC van, they noticed he was slumped over the wheel and possibly having a medical issue.

Troopers discovered a "one-pot" mobile meth lab in the back of the van and determined that he had overdosed.

"Basically, it's just where you take a bottle and you add certain chemicals to it that creates the methamphetamine," MSP First Lt. Michael Shaw said.

Shaw says troopers attempted to administer NARCAN to try and revive the man. He has been determined brain dead and remains in the hospital.

Shaw said the MSP Meth Response team visited the scene and rendered the operation safe.
