(WWJ) -- A West Michigan couple has been identified as two of the three victims in a plane crash near Alaska's Kenai Peninsula over the weekend.

Mike and Traci Timmer were killed Friday night when a private plane they were on crashed near a bay on the peninsula. Traci Timmer was an employee for Kent County.

Alaska State Troopers identified the pilot as 63-year-old Kem Sibbitt of Fairbanks, Alaska. All three bodies were recovered Saturday. Authorities were unsure of the purpose of the flight, but have determined it was a private plane. The Naitonal Transportation Safety Board is expected to investigate the cause of the crash.

The Timmers were visiting Alaska on vacation and had reportedly just bought property there.

The couple leaves behind five children -- Kristen (Jacob) Brown, Brooke Boman, Bracyn Timmer, Sydney Timmer and Ava Timmer -- according to a GoFundMe page that was set up to help their family.

"This was a horrible accident and no one could have prepared for the devastation it brings. Mike and Traci leave behind five children who could really use your support and most importantly your prayers," the page says. "Everyone who knew this fantastic, loving, selfless couple knows how much they love their children! They would give anything for the people they loved and cared for, and hopefully we can all do the same for this family as they try to process this tragedy."
