(WWJ) An internal investigation is under way by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office after a video posted on facebook shows a white officer repeatedly punching a black woman during an arrest.

Ironically, this happened the same day protests broke out over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, a black man who died gasping for air and repeating, "I can't breathe," after a white officer kept his knee on his neck for seven minutes during an arrest in Minneapolis.

The Minneapolis protest turned ugly, with some breaking out the windows of squad cars. Police used rubber bullets and chemical irritants to disperse the crowd.

Meanwhile, in metro Detroit's Ypsilanti Township, deputies were called after reports of around 30 people arguing and gunshots... including one that wounded a 34-year-old woman. The deputies apparently told a married couple to leave the scene. When they resisted... deputies tried to physically remove them. The video shows one deputy -- a large man -- punching the woman repeatedly in the head while another tazes the husband. Both were taken into custody. The Sheriff says a full and thorough review will be completed on the use of force. The deputies have been placed on administrative leave.

SEE THE VIDEO HERE, but note that it it violent.

An internal investigation has been launched to determine if Washtenaw County Sheriff deputies did anything wrong while arresting two people shown in the video. The two were arrested for obstructing an investigation.  Detectives have started conducting interviews and will look at body-cam and dash camera video and audio.

As for the reason they were on the scene, a woman who was shot was taken to the hospital.
