WWJ -- A Michigan man wanted on several criminal sexual conduct charges who cut off his tether days before a scheduled sentencing last month has reportedly been caught in Arkansas.

Michael Flaker of Shelby Township was arrested in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on Saturday night, according to a report from the Detroit Free Press

Authorities say the 73-year-old Flaker, charged with eight counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, was out on bond and wearing a GPS tether. He cut his tether off on Jan. 24 and fled the state, leaving federal and Macomb County officials searching for him.

Flaker was apparently arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service East Arkansas Task Force at Fairview Inn & Suites after authorities received a tip from a viewer who had seen and recognized him.

"He was getting ready to be sentenced on eight counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct," Garcia told WWJ's Sandra McNeill last week. "He was looking at a substantial amount of jail time after pleading guilty. He was looking at around 25 years to life, and he cut his tether off and disappeared."

Authorities received an alert that the tether had been cut, Garcia said, but by the time officers arrived at the last location where the tether pinged -- in the area of 22 Mile Road and Central Park in Shelby Township -- Flaker was gone.

Garcia said Flaker confessed in court to sex crimes involving multiple underage victims -- victims who will not feel safe until Flaker is in prison.
