Michigan Teen Killed In Go Kart Crash; 10-Year-Old Critically Injured

KENOCKEE TWP. (WWJ) - A teenager is dead and another child in critical condition after a crash involving a car and a go kart.

According to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened in the area of Beard Rd. and Fargo Rd. in Kenockee Township, west of Port Huron, at around 8 p.m. Thursday.

Officials said a preliminary investigation found that two children, ages 10 and 13,  were riding a go kart that went through a stop sign and was hit by a vehicle.

The two, found unconscious and unresponsive at the scene, were taken Port Huron McLaren Hospital where the 13-year-old was pronounced dead. The 10-year-old was last reported in critical condition.

The driver of the car involved, identified as a Kenockee Township woman, wasn't hurt.  

No names were immediately released. An investigation is ongoing.
