Missing 12-Year-Old Detroit Boy Found Safe Near School

DETROIT (WWJ) - An earlier alert from Detroit police asking for tips from the public to help bring a missing child home safe has been canceled. 

The father of 12-year-old Kenneth Ford, Jr. told police he went to pick him up from school at 3 p.m. Wednesday at their normal meeting place, and the boy wasn't there. The family telling WWJ that Kenneth returned home Thursday evening. It's believed that he ran away and he was found near the school. No further details were released. 

He was last seen wearing a gray and green hoodie, jeans, black and white shoes and a red backpack. 

Police said the boy is believed to be in good physical and mental condition.
