Missing Detroit Man Known To Frequent Libraries, Cemetery

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are asking the public for help locating a missing 67-year-old man who is known to frequent two libraries and a cemetery in the city.

George Wendell Martin was last seen by his brother-in-law around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at their home in the 2200 block of Field, near Vernor Highway and East Grand Boulevard on the east side. Martin left the location and hasn't been seen or heard from since. 

Police say Martin rides the DDOT bus wherever he goes and also frequents the following locations: Detroit Public Library (5201 Woodward Ave.), Wayne State Library (5155 Gullen Mall) and Elmwood Cemetery (1200 Elmwood St.).  

Martin is described as 5'9" tall and 185 lbs. with a light complexion, brown eyes, and long salt and pepper hair combed to the back. He also wears glasses and walks with a cane. He was last seen wearing a brown hooded sweater and blue jeans. Martin is said to be in good physical condition but suffers from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
