Motorcyclist Killed In Collision With Vehicle Changing Lanes

June 14, 2018 - 7:05 am

ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - Authorities say a motorcyclist died after she was struck by a vehicle that was changing lanes along M-59.

The crash happened around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday along eastbound M-59 just east of John R Road in Rochester Hills.

Oakland County Sheriff's investigators say a 63-year-old woman was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the center lane when a 2012 Hyundai Accent, driven by a 21-year-old Sterling Heights woman, changed lanes and struck the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, who police say was wearing a helmet, was taken to Troy Beaumont Hospital where she died from her injuries.

The other driver involved stopped at the scene and was interviewed by police.

Authorities say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

A section of M-59 was closed for about four hours overnight but has since reopened to traffic.
