ROSE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - It's been two years since the mysterious shooting death of a jogger on a rural road in Oakland County.

The family of the victim is still searching for answers reports WWJ's Sandra McNeill.

Alexandra Brueger was shot multiple times while jogging on Fish Lake Road, in rural Rose Township, on the afternoon of July 30. Brueger, who regularly went for 10-mile runs, collapsed on a resident’s front lawn and died.

To date, there has not been an arrest in the death of the 31-year-old Brueger.

"Frankly, this day is really not any better or any worse than any other day that we've had to deal with since our daughter was murdered, it's just as bad as any other day because we don't have any closure," says her mom.

Her mother, Nikki Brueger, is still searching for answers as to who would kill her daughter ... and why? She says to speculate who would have killed Alexandra only hurts her.

"Why would anyone shoot a 4-foot-9, 98-pound woman, in the back, four times as she is running away?

She longs to know who did this to her daughter.

"Nothing is going to bring her back, I mean, if it's someone she knew? Why? If it's random, well, that's really even scarier because it puts everybody else in this community  ... in a state of fear."

Shortly after Brueger's murder, state police received dozens of tips in the case, but nothing leading to a suspect in the case. They continue to seek information.

“Information about suspicious persons or unusual vehicles in the area of Fish Lake Road could be extremely important,” police said in a 2016 statement. “Even if you think your information is unimportant or that someone else may have already reported what you know, please contact investigators.”

Witnesses have said a white or light-colored four-door sedan was seen traveling at a high rate of speed on Fish Lake Road around the time Brueger was killed, but police have yet to identify that vehicle.

There is a $13,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Brueger’s murder.

Tips can be reported 24/7 to the Michigan State Police at 1-855-MICH-TIP, or to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
