ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Authorities have released the name of the person shot and killed by police shortly after a traffic stop in Royal Oak.

Antonino Gordon, 28, of Commerce Township was pronounced dead at Beaumont Hospital Tuesday evening after an officer-involved shooting in the area of Woodward Avenue and 13 Mile Road.

According to police, Gordon fled from the traffic stop and was seen by police a short time later at the drive-thru White Castle restaurant near Coolidge and 13 Mile roads.

Gordon was shot while in his car at White Castle and drove off and crashed head-on with another car. The driver of that car was treated and released at the scene.

Police say Gordon had numerous contacts with law enforcement including multiple arrests for operating while intoxicating and disorderly conduct. He had a warrant for his arrest with a bond of $75,000.

Details of what lead up to the shooting have not been released by authorities and it is not known if the officer that fired on Gordon knew of his outstanding warrant.

The investigation is being handled by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. The officer has been placed on administrative leave.
