12-Year-Old Critically Injured In Crash With Semi On I-94

DEARBORN (WWJ) - A 12-year-old child is fighting for his life after the vehicle he was riding in rear-ended a semi-truck on I-94. 

The crash happened around 4 a.m. Friday along eastbound I-94 near Schaefer in Dearborn.

According to Michigan State Police, a semi truck entered the freeway at Schaefer and as the truck was getting up to speed, a 2017 Chrysler 300 crashed into the back of the trailer.

The female driver suffered serious injuries to her legs and the 12-year-old male passenger suffered critical injuries. The truck driver was not hurt.

The right two lanes of I-94 remain closed while police investigate the crash scene. One lane is open for traffic.
