ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - A young girl has been suspended and could be facing criminal charges after a school threat in Rochester Hills.

Police say a classmate at Rochester High School told the school resource officer on Wednesday that the girl made threats to "shoot up the school" while in class. Other students then came forward and said the girl had also texted suicidal messages over the weekend.

The resource officer and vice principal interviewed the 13-year-old girl and her mother, who agreed to a search of their home. Police determined that neither had access to firearms.

The incident remains under investigation.

The girl was suspended from school and a juvenile petition will now be taken to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office for review.
