SUPERIOR CHARTER TWP. (WWJ) -- The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office says a pair of horses that had broken free from their owner's property have been located safe.

The sheriff's department sent out an alert Wednesday afternoon asking people along Cherry Hill Road near Prospect Road east of Ann Arbor to keep their eyes peeled for a pair of horses that had gotten loose.

Police did not disclose where the horses escaped from, or where they were found, but said they were unharmed and reunited with their owner.

One of the horses is a Clydesdale, police said.

"Two of their horses had broken through one of their fences and had gotten away. They had been searching for them and could not find them. We went out to the area to try and help with the search and put out a community alert a short time ago just asking for residents to let us know," a spokesperson with the sheriff's office said.

"We definitely want to thank people for calling in and giving us tips to let them know we did locate both horses. They were unharmed and back with their owner at this point," he said.
