DETROIT (WWJ) - A dispute between family members led to a shooting that ended with one sibling dead on Detroit's east side.

The incident unfolded around 5:30 a.m. Friday when a man in his 30s went to his sister's house in the 12500 block of Duchess, near Moross and Kelly roads west of I-94.

After the brother was let into the home, the siblings got into an argument that turned physical, according to police. During the altercation, the brother allegedly began choking his 33-year-old sister.

An 18-year-old man who was also in the home saw what was going on, grabbed his gun, fired shots in the direction of the brother, and ended up striking both siblings.

The brother was pronounced dead at the scene. The sister was taken to the hospital; her condition is unknown.

The gunman, who police say is a CPL holder, was taken into custody at the scene and the weapon was recovered. His relationship to the victims wasn't immediately disclosed.

The incident remains under investigation.
