According to police, at around 9 p.m. last Sunday, a patrol officer spotted a beige Lincoln Continental with an expired license plate swerving between lanes on Mound Road near 15 Mile Road.

When the cop tried to make a traffic stop, police said, the driver fled, leading the officers on a short pursuit northbound on Mound.

As seen in the video, when the driver tried to turn into a parking lot south of Metropolitan Parkway, he lost control of the car, went of the road and hit a utility pole.

The driver, identified by police as 29-year-old Tryson Hairston of Birmingham, wasn't injured. He had warrants for his arrest, police said, and was taken into custody at the scene.

Hairston was arraigned on charges of Fleeing and Eluding Police, Driving On a Suspended license and No Insurance. Bond was set at $5,000, cash/surety or 10%.
