Clinton Township Man Charged With Murder Of Ex-Girlfriend's Boyfriend

He was ordered held without bond

MT. CLEMENS (WWJ) - A 34-year-old Clinton Township man is facing first degree murder and other felony charges in a home invasion slaying in Mt. Clemens

Dominic Watson was ordered held without bond at an arraignment in 41-B District Court Tuesday. 

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office got a 911 call just before midnight Sunday from Court Street in Mount Clemens, where a woman reported that Watson, her ex-boyfriend, had broken into her house armed with a shotgun. The woman told deputies Watson came in through a side door and entered her bedroom, where the victim, 26-year-old Jovon Houston of Mount Clemens, was in bed.

It's alleged that Watson opened fire, shooting Houston multiple times in the face, shoulder and leg. 

Houston was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The woman, whose name was not released, was not hurt.

Watson fled on foot but was tracked to nearby Clinton Township where he was arrested, police said.

He is charged by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office with the following counts: 

  • Homicide – First Degree Murder – Multiple Theories (life felony)
  • Weapons – Felony Firearm (felony)
  • Homicide – Felony Murder (life felony)
  • Weapons – Felony Firearm (felony)
  • Home Invasion – 1st Degree (felony)
  • Weapons – Felony Firearm (felony)
  • Assault With A Dangerous Weapon (Felonious Assault) (felony)
  • Weapons – Felony Firearm (felony)

Watson remains in the Macomb County Jail awaiting his next court apperance, a probable cause conference scheduled for Oct. 2.
