(WWJ) Police are searching for a man who's been using phony money to pay for his meals at McDonald's locations around metro Detroit.

Bloomfield Township Police say the latest known incident was May 21, when he tried to do it at a McDonald’s on Telegraph Road in Bloomfield.

The restaurant's manger told police that an unknown man tried to pay for his food with a counterfeit $20 bill at around 2:45 p.m. that day; and that the same man had attempted to do the same thing before, back on May 12.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20-30 years old with facial hair and medium length hair. He was driving a dark gray or black sedan.

As the investigation continues, police said they've learned that the same suspect is believed to have passed counterfeit bills at McDonald's restaurants in Auburn Hills and Utica.

Anyone with information that could help police with this case should call the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248-433-7755.
