BRIGHTON, Mich. (WWJ) - A woman was arrested after police say she stabbed two people and herself at a laundromat in Livingston County.

At around 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, officers with the City of Brighton Police Department were dispatched to a call to the business on W. Grand River Ave. at Cross St. in Brighton.

The initial dispatch, police said, indicated that a white female in her 30s was stabbing customers. While officers were responding to the scene, Central Dispatch advised that the suspect was now stabbing herself.

Officers arrived within minutes to find the suspect holding a large knife against her stomach, police said. The suspect was taken into custody, police said, without any injury to the officers or to the woman.

An initial investigation found that woman had stabbed two people at the scene and attempted to stab a third.

"The responding officers from the City of Brighton did a heroic job in deescalating a tense situation," police said, in a statement.

One victim was treated at the scene, while the second victim as well as the suspect were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The suspect's name is being withheld pending expected charges by the Livingston County Prosecutor’s Office.
