ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - A grandmother was found dead inside her Roseville home in an apparent murder that was allegedly perpetrated by her very own daughter.

Family members were concerned about the 69-year-old woman so they requested police perform a welfare check at her home on Congress Street, near 12 Mile Road and I-94.

When officers responded to the home around 10 a.m. Tuesday, a 50-year-old woman who identified herself as the victim's daughter appeared to be evasive when asked questions about her welfare. A search warrant was obtained so officers could enter the home, and that's when they found the woman deceased.

The victim has not yet been identified. Her daughter is currently being held in police custody.

A 34-year-old man was also questioned and later released.

The incident is being handled as an apparent homicide, though police haven't commented as to a cause of death.

An investigation is ongoing.
