DETROIT (WWJ) -- The search is on for a man who went missing from Detroit's near east side last week.

Detroit police say 36-year-old Mandingo Horton was last seen around 4 p.m. on Oct. 15 in the 2100 block of Canfield Street, near St. Aubin Street.

His son says Horton had an appointment scheduled for the following day, but failed to show up and he has not been seen or heard from since. His son says he's been calling his father's cell phone since his disappearance, but it goes straight to voicemail.

Police describe Horton as a black male, about 6-foot-1, with a heavy build, approximately 240 lbs. Horton has a dark complexion, short black hair, brown eyes and various tattoos on his arms and chest, according to police.

Horton was last seen wearing gray jogging pants, a gray shirt and green shoes. Police say Horton may also be driving a 2003 maroon Dodge Caravan, though the license plate number is unknown.

Anyone who has seen Mandingo Horton or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call the Detroit Police Department's Seventh Precinct at (313) 596-5740. Calls can also be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
