(WWJ) How is your teenager handling the pandemic? With schools closed, stay-home orders in place and so many aspects of life turned upside down, there's a lot to deal with these days.

With that in mind, the Detroit Police Athletic League (Detroit PAL) is hosting Conversations About the New Normal" — a series of mental health virtual town hall meetings targeting young people in metro Detroit, and their guardians, who may be struggling.

"We know that not only do adults deal with the mental health challenges that take place in life in general, but also our youth deal with that," Detroit PAL CEO, Robert Jamerson told WWJ's Stephanie Davis. "So we thought what better way than to hear from the youth, but also supply some of the coping things that can help support them during this time."

Included in the series is advice from doctors: Behavior health physician Dr. Curtis Longs, and physiologist Michele Leno of Detroit.

"You know, Uncle Joe and Aunt Sandy can support you sometimes because they love you," Jamerson said, "but you have to align with expertise sometimes, and that's what their forum is about."
