Detroit Police Officers Test Positive For Coronavirus

Three officers reportedly tested positive Thursday.

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Multiple Detroit police officer have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 as the coronavirus continues to spread throughout Michigan.

On the day coronavirus cases skyrocketed statewide and officials reported two more deaths from the virus, multiple reports say three officers have tested positive.

An estimated 80 officers are out of commission in the department, as they have gone into quarantine, according to a report from the Detroit News.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig announced on Wednesday that no officers had been diagnosed with the virus.

State health officials say there are more than 330 confirmed cases in Michigan, with more than 250 new cases reported Thursday. That number is expected to continue to rise.
