DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit woman has been charged for the fatal stabbing of a 62-year-old man she was living with.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says Akilah Swift, 39, was living with Wendel Duplessis of Detroit in the 4140 block of St. Antoine in Midtown Detroit at the time of the stabbing. Prosecutors allege that Swift stabbed Duplessis to death shortly after Nov. 10 on Sunday.

Authorities say she allegedly stabbed him multiple times following an argument and medics were called to the scene, where the man was pronounced dead. Swift was arrested by Detroit police officers at a different location later that day.

Swift is facing one count of first-degree premeditated murder after being arraigned Wednesday in Detroit. She was remanded to jail and ordered to appear in court again on Nov. 20 before Judge Kenyatta Jones.
