Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Rhionna Nichols, 20, in the death of her 20-month-old infant son, whose name has not been released.

At around 5 p.m. last Thursday, EMS responded to a 911 call to a home in the 19300 block of Kentucky Street in Detroit. According investigators, medics found the infant injured and unconscious, and took him to a hospital where he died.

Nichols was arraigned in 36th District Court Monday afternoon on charges of felony murder, first degree child abuse and torture.

She was remanded into custody in the Wayne County Jail while she will await her next court appearance, a Probable Cause Conferencs, scheduled for Dec. 20.
