STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Police say a suspected drunk driver who fled the scene after fatally striking a pedestrian was later arrested after being involved in a second crash.

The first crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Metro Parkway and Ryan Road in Sterling Heights. The suspect allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian, then fled the scene.

Sometime later, the suspect was involved in a second crash in Troy. He was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

Details of the crashes weren't immediately clear and the identity of the victim has not been released.

Troy police have turned the suspect over to Sterling Heights police, where he remains behind bars pending charges. He was tested for drugs and alcohol, according to police.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
