Police: Young Man Shot in Detroit Smashes Car Into Building

(WWJ) A young man is hospitalized after a drive-by shooting caused him to smash into a building on Detroit's west side. 

Police say the man, 18, was driving in the area of Hartwell and Foley around 2:45 am Saturday when he was struck by a bullet.

He lost control of his car and hit a building further down Foley Street, according to police.

Investigators tell WWJ two teenage boys, both 17, were in the car with him. They were not shot and suffered only minor injuries from the crash.

The motive for the shooting and the suspect’s connection to the victim, if any, remains unknown.  

The victim is in temporary serious condition. No one is in custody.
