(WWJ) There's no bridge to speak of just yet, but aerial video shows progress being made on the Gordie Howe International Bridge Project.

New drone footage — released Friday by the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) — shows work on the Canadian said taking place in February.

Pretty cool, eh?

Linking the U.S. and Canada over the Detroit River, the Gordie Howe International Bridge will cost $5.7 billion in Canadian dollars, which is about $4.4 billion American.

Taking an estimated 74 months to build, the bridge will connect Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan, landing south of Historic Fort Wayne in Southwest Detroit.

Named after the hockey legend, the Canadian-financed bridge is expected to open at the end of 2024.

It will be a third option for travel between the two cities, currently linked by the privately-owned Ambassador Bridge, and the Detroit-Winsor Tunnel.
