Missing Ferndale Man Found, Reunited With His Family

(WWJ) A Ferndale man who had been missing since last night is back home safe. 

Police say 82-year old Joe Lemelin, who has Alzheimer’s disease, was found with the help of Detroit police and has been reunited with his family. 

Ferndale police responded to a call Thursday evening from a family members who said  Lemelin had walked away from his home, on the southeast side of the city, without anyone noticing. Lemelin’s son told officers that his father responds to his own name, but not much else.

Home surveillance video showed Lemelin leaving the home around 6:30 p.m., and walking westbound on LeRoy Avenue from Central. 

Police searched the area overnight, but he wasn't found until later on Friday. 

No further details were released.
