SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - It's not too bad out there today, is it?

Not that we're saying the groundhog was right, but if you're enjoying the slightly warmer weather, there's plenty more on the way.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore is calling for high temperatures in 40s pretty much all week long in metro Detroit....and perhaps for the rest of winter, too.

"It's mild for this time of year, although we could be a little bit better, right?" DeVore said, speaking live on WWJ Newsradio 950 on Monday.

Normal highs for this period are upper 30s to low 40s in Lower Michigan, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday looks like it be the coldest days this week, hopefully reaching 40, while Sunday looks like it will be the warmest, with temps up into the low 50s.

Here's a look ahead at the AccuWeather forecast for the week:

TUESDAY: More clouds than sun, a bit breezy. High 48. Low 33.

WEDNESDAY: Mixing sun & clouds. High 45. Low 26.

THURSDAY: Still mild. High 48 with a partly sunny sky. Low 34.

FRIDAY: Breezy. High near 40. Low 25.

SATURDAY: Abundant sunshine. High 42. Low 29.

SUNDAY: Increasing cloudiness. High 53. Low 40.

MONDAY (3/9): Rain possible in the PM. High 52. Low 26.

Although things could change, of course, the week after that looks like more of the same. AccuWeather is calling for high temps in the mid-40s to around 50 degrees, or a bit higher even, through the end of the month. (Check the extended forecast HERE).

The official first day of spring is Thursday, March 19.
