Equestrian Horse With Hockey Roots Visits WWJ

The horse has a connection to a Detroit legend.

Caitlin Toomey of Bloomfield Hills will ride Mario, named for Mario Lemieux in competition at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival in Traverse City. It's six weeks of world-class horse events drawing competitors and spectators from all over the world.

Mario goes by the name Center Ice in competition.
The horse has a connection to a Detroit hockey legend. Mario is a four-legged member of Steve Yzerman's family and belongs to one of his daughters.

The 2018 Great Lakes Equestrian Festival takes place July 4 - August 12, 2018, at Flintfields Horse Park in Traverse City, Michigan in connection with the National Cherry Festival.
