Family Members Find Missing 19-Year-Old Detroit Man Dead In Vacant Home

Family: He had left home to meet a girl he met on social media

(WWJ) A 19-year-old Detroit man who went missing a week ago has been found dead, according to Detroit Police.  

Police say his body was found wrapped in a carpet in a vacant home on Elmdale between Gunston and Barnett around 8:15 pm Friday.

While police are not confirming his identity; family members said his name is Darius Jones Jr.

His mother, little sister, and two brothers found him; according to a Go-Fund Me Page started to help the family with funeral expenses.

His family said he was last seen June 21 at 4 am when he left home to meet up with a girl he had met on social media.

Detroit Police Department's Homicide Unit is investigating.

Darius' family wrote on his Go-Fund Me Page: “He was a strong, smart, kindhearted soul that walked this earth and was able to be of support to so many people. He battled day and night against his mental illness, and social awkwardness. He had love for everyone and all he ever wanted to do was fit in.”
