(WWJ) Federal authorities are reaching out for help to bust a gun thief who's evaded capture for years.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) on Thursday asked the public for assistance in identifying a suspect responsible for the burglary and theft of multiple firearms and firearm silencers from Schupbach’s Sporting Goods, a federally licensed dealer located at 141 W. Pearl Street in Jackson, Michigan, back on May 8, 2013.

On that date, the unknown man entered the business at approximately 4:30 p.m. and "concealed himself" inside, the ATF said.

After closing time, the suspect — caught on security camera — emerged from his hiding place and stole two firearms and 15 firearms silencers.

To date, none of the stolen items have been recovered.

The AFT said the same man may also be a suspect in another unrelated crime.

As for where he might be, that's unknown. Officials said given the passage of time it's possible he may have left Michigan.

Anyone who recognizes this wanted suspect or who has any information about this crime is asked to call the ATF at 1-800-ATF-GUNS (800-283-4867).  Information can also be sent to ATFTips@atf.gov, or through ATF’s website at www.atf.gov/contact/atftips.
