Governor Whitmer worked side-by-side with stylists at Reflections Hair Salon in Grand Rapids to learn more about their “craft” and help clean equipment on the styling floor, according to a press release from the Governor’s Office.

“This was a great opportunity to see firsthand how Michigan’s small businesses are getting back to work safely and responsibly,” Governor Whitmer said in the release. “I had a fun time learning from the stylists at Reflections about the precautions they are taking to keep their staff and customers safe, and they made sure to put me to work.”

This came after the Governor drew ire from stylists across the state for suggesting Michiganders should just “Google” how to do a hairstyle—during a press conference when salons were still closed.

Governor Whitmer later apologized.

Hair salons and barbershops opened for the first time since March on June 15, in all parts of the state but the northern Lower Peninsula and Upper Peninsula; where they opened a week earlier.

Last week, Governor Whitmer worked behind the grill at Lafayette Coney Island in Detroit.
