Amity Packing Company Inc. says the beef was shipped to retail locations in Michigan and eight other states, including Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The recalled products include 1 lb. vacuum-packed packages of “Pre 95% LEAN/5% FAT GROUND BEEF” with lot code “0060,” case code “11402” and USE/FREEZE BY date of “01/31/2020” on the product label. The products also have an establishment number “EST. 6916” printed on the right, front side of the package.

The raw ground beef items were produced on Jan. 6, 2020.

The problem was discovered after the company received two consumer complaints reporting findings of clear, thin pliable plastic in raw ground beef. No reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products have been received.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
