Motorcyclist Critically Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash On Detroit's West Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are searching for a driver who fled the scene after crashing into a motorcyclist, leaving the man with critical injuries. 

The crash happened just before 10:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Woodmont and Chalfonte, in a west side neighborhood near Grand River Avenue and the Southfield Freeway. 

According to police, the motorcyclist was riding a Harley Davidson southbound on Woodmont when he was hit by a driver who disregarded a yield sign on eastbound Chalfonte.

After the collision, the driver fled the scene.

The 44-year-old motorcyclist suffered a head injury and was transported to the hospital. He was last reported in critical condition. 

Police have no description of the suspect vehicle or the driver. 

The crash remains under investigation.
